Project Cargo Shipping for Oversized, Heavy, and Complex Loads
GreenLine Global delivers project cargo shipping for freight that does not fit a standard box. As project cargo freight forwarders, we move heavy lift, breakbulk, out-of-gauge, and Ro-Ro cargo worldwide. One coordinator plans the route, equipment, permits, and paperwork. Your cargo stays with one team from factory floor to final site.
Our core lane is project cargo shipping between the USA and Europe. Our Seattle headquarters and Tallinn hub link US gateways such as Houston with Baltic ports such as Muuga Harbour. We combine ocean freight, machinery shipping, and customs clearance in one plan. Every job starts with a transparent, itemised quote – no hidden charges.
How it works
Project Cargo Management - From Survey to Site
Project cargo shipments fail at the handovers. Our project cargo management owns every handover, from the first survey to the signed delivery note.
Assess cargo, plan the route & quote
We review drawings, weights, and lifting points. We run a route survey and choose breakbulk, flat rack, or Ro-Ro. You get one itemised quote covering every leg.
Secure permits, lift & load
We book cranes, escorts, and oversize permits before pickup. Crews lash and secure each piece to a documented plan. We issue the bill of lading and packing list at loading.
Track transit & clear customs
Our 24/7 team monitors every sailing and transshipment. We file import and export declarations ahead of arrival. See our customs clearance service.
Deliver to site & confirm proof of delivery
We run the final inland leg and coordinate site offloading. You receive a signed proof of delivery with photos. One team, one plan, from factory to foundation.

Our project cargo services
Project Cargo Services - Heavy Lift, Breakbulk, and Out-of-Gauge
Every oversized shipment needs a different mix of vessel, container, and truck. Our project cargo handling services match the mode to your dimensions, deadline, and budget.
Heavy Lift & Breakbulk
Breakbulk - Heavy lift - Conventional vessel
For units too large or heavy for any container. Cargo loads piece by piece using ship or port cranes. It suits transformers, reactors, and large plant sections. We plan every lift with a documented lashing and securing scheme.
Out-of-Gauge Containers
Flat rack - Open top - Platform
For cargo slightly over standard container width or height. Flat racks and open tops sail on regular container services. That often means more departures and lower cost than breakbulk. It is part of our wider ocean freight service.
Ro-Ro Shipping
Self-propelled - Mafi trailer - Tracked units
For wheeled and tracked machinery. Cargo rolls on and off the vessel, with no crane lift. Non-running units travel on Mafi roll trailers. Ro-Ro is often the fastest and safest option for heavy mobile equipment.
Vessel & Air Charter
Part charter - Full charter - Air charter
For large volumes or fixed deadlines that scheduled services cannot meet. We source part or full vessel charters for complete project packages. Urgent critical parts can fly on a dedicated charter. See our air freight service.
Inland Project Cargo Transportation
Route survey - Permits - Escorts
We move oversized loads between port and site on lowboys and multi-axle trailers. We cover all 50 US states, including Alaska and Hawaii. In Europe we run oversized road freight from Tallinn. Heavy equipment moves via machinery shipping.
Multi-Phase Project Logistics
Staged delivery - Consolidation - Storage
For plants and installations shipped from many suppliers. We consolidate components, store them, and release them in build order. Your site receives the right piece at the right stage. Storage runs through our warehousing network.
What we move
Project Cargo Shipments & Specializations
Each cargo type brings its own lifting, securing, and paperwork rules. We plan for them before the cargo leaves the factory.
Heavy Machinery & Industrial Equipment
Presses, CNC centres, production lines, and industrial installations. We plan crating, lifting points, and securing for every unit. More on machinery shipping.
Mining Equipment
Haul trucks, excavators, crushers, and conveyor sections. Many mine sites sit far from ports and paved roads. We plan the full route to remote sites, including challenging markets.
Energy & Power Components
Transformers, generators, turbine parts, and switchgear. These units are heavy, high-value, and often shock-sensitive. We use impact recorders and engineered lashing on request.
Dangerous Goods in Project Shipments
Machinery with fuel, batteries, or chemicals needs declared handling. We prepare IMDG and ADR declarations and book approved carriers. Nothing sails without correct classification.
Construction & Plant Equipment
Cranes, steel structures, prefabricated modules, and tanks. We sequence deliveries to match your build schedule. Staged storage keeps the site clear until each piece is needed.
Scientific & Electrical Installations
Lab systems, medical imaging units, and sensitive instruments. We control tilt, shock, and climate from origin to installation room.
General & Palletised Project Materials
Spare parts, cabling, tools, and consumables that travel with the main cargo. We consolidate them under the same project file and bill of lading.

Project Cargo Shipping Between the USA and Europe
We have offices on both sides of this lane. Seattle and Tallinn run each USA - Europe project as one shipment. One file, one coordinator, and one quote cover factory, ports, customs, and site.
Eastbound · USA → Europe
US-built equipment to European sites
Mining, energy, and industrial machinery sails from East Coast and Gulf gateways. We prepare US export clearance and the EU import declaration before sailing. Our Tallinn team runs the European inland leg. See ocean freight to Europe.

FAQS
Project Cargo Questions
Project cargo is freight that cannot move as a standard container or pallet shipment. It is usually oversized, very heavy, high-value, or part of a larger installation delivered in phases. Typical examples are mining machinery, transformers, production lines, and plant components. GreenLine Global plans each project cargo shipment individually, with its own route, equipment, and document set. One project coordinator manages the job from factory to final site.
It depends on dimensions, weight, and the ports on your route. Flat rack and open top containers suit cargo that is slightly over container size, and they sail on regular container services. Breakbulk suits very large or very heavy units that need a conventional or heavy lift vessel. Wheeled and tracked machinery often moves most economically by Ro-Ro. GreenLine Global compares the options for your cargo and shows the cost and transit trade-offs in one quote.
Transit time depends on the shipping mode, the vessel schedule, and how long permits take to issue. Breakbulk and Ro-Ro sailings run less often than container services, so early booking matters. Price depends on dimensions, weight, lifting needs, lashing and securing, route surveys, escorts, and port handling. GreenLine Global sends a transparent, itemised quote with every cost line shown. There are no hidden charges added after booking.
Yes. Our project cargo handling services include route surveys, oversize and overweight permits, and pilot or police escorts for inland legs. In the USA we cover all 50 states, including delivery to Alaska and Hawaii. In Europe our Tallinn hub coordinates oversized road moves across the Baltics, Nordics, and the EU. We also arrange cranes and site offloading where the project needs them.
Most USA – Europe project cargo sails from East Coast or Gulf gateways such as New York and Houston. Cargo arrives at North European ports and continues by road or feeder vessel to the final site. Our Seattle headquarters and Tallinn hub manage both ends of the move as one project. Into the USA we handle import clearance and file importer bonds with US Customs. Into the EU we prepare the import declaration and documents for your EORI-registered importer.
